Arkansas folks speak up.........

I took 2 eggs to work today in my cargo pockets. Found them when one cracked slightly and leaked a little.
At least it wasn't bad enough for me to have to go home.

The new dog had the runs AGAIN. Apparently he can't digest any food, not even the kibble that his old owners sent with him. Could be the move I guess, could be the Hartguard that he was given last week??????? He only ate half his kibble, totally snubbed the peanutbutter that I gave him with probiotics in it, and then proceded to poop it back out with the colors of the kibble still visible. Me thinks he's not digesting anything. Grr
Anyway, I had the most god-awful night at work, that involved getting my truck stuck in a ditch and working from 11am to 8pm without a second to eat the lunch that I packed.....then I have to come home and clean up the dog's effin mess for the second time this week. He's gonna be an outside doggy if he keeps this up! He's 4 years old for cryin out loud, I expect PUPPY messes, but dang! This has me pulling my hair out!

I should add that a 42" crate won't fit though a 32" door.....so it's not like I can just take it outside to hose down

Oh, and I got a runny nose myself today. Dog's not the only thing with the "runs"

I am so happy to have gotten 3 light olive green eggs in the four days Gladys has been laying. One of my barred rocks's combs has gotten noticably redder. Hopefully she will lay soon too. God, I wish I could hatch some chicks with you guys. I would love to have more chickens. But until I move out to the boonies, I will have to wait. I may have to give up the four I have now if me and Zach have to move into an apartment. With him not haveing a job our dreams of a country home are fadeing fast. I guess I will just have to sit tight and be happy with what I got right now.

And why mules? What's the difference between them and just having a horse?

Man that wind is fierce today! I keep thinking i need to go tie down the chickens.

Good thing they are locked up.

Yup. I got gas before work and the wind took my hat off, then proceeded to blow a handful of sand, grit and leaves in my eyeballs

Work was pretty slow today, but I was glad for the relief after last night.

Figured out what made the doggy sick. In the daylight I discovered that he must have eaten my new insulation off of my heat pump yesterday morning while they were outside without me.

He has been feeling great today, bumbling full of energy as he should be. Called the vet to ask if they thought I should bring him in - told them he'd had diarrhea and vomited last night. They said to feed him again and see if it came back up. Said if he threw up more food today to bring him in so they could check for blockage.

AS FAR AS I KNOW there's nothing else around here to chew up. I mean, we've had a dog for 3 years and she's never eaten anything bad like that so I didn't think about him eating the insulation. Now that it has come up, seems like a lot of dogs love that foam stuff.
He really doesn't seem to chew much at all, but I guess it was just irresistible.

So far today I've gotten 25 eggs ( out of 50 hens, 35 of which just started laying in the last 3 weeks), when I go out to tuck them in tonight I'm sure I'll find a few more eggs in the boxes. Those winds are unreal! They're blowing my chickens across the yard..the dingbats would rather get their feathers ruffled up than go into their house. My ducks keep running into their crates everytime a big wind blows up, they won't even go to the pond today LOL

How so? I've never been around either one. I would like to have a horse or something someday.

I think a mule is half horse and half donkey (?) . There is a man that lives out here and he clears land with a team of mules. The mules don t tear up the land like a dozer does. The next time I hear of him working somewhere I want to take my son out to watch. How many people can say they have seen a team of mules clear land?

Edited to add this website

I got a litle curious.

Who else is battening down the hatches, hauling hay, water, firewood, relatives?~LOL I'm NOT up for another big winter storm. Just not feeling it at all

Our tractor is out of commision right now, so some sweet neighbors are planning to come over today and haul round bales out for the horses & cattle. The parts for the tractor should be in today, but that's cutting it too close for comfort!
