Arkansas folks speak up.........

Any of you use Tylan 50 for your birds? I have a conjested adult bantam. Sneezing and watery eyes. What would be the dosage on this bird? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks Gena.

Got my Jumbo Brown Coturnix quail eggs today. No beakage! Won 52 eggs on ebay and recieved 64! Let them "rest" a few hours then put them in the new Genesis 1588. My wife wanted to know why I was running the incubator without any eggs. I explained it needed to attain its temperature and humidity for a few days. I also wanted to make certain that it was working. Eggs should start hatching March 13.

Well as far as I know, my cats keep the rodent populations down. I leave a few of Queenie's old eggs in her nest though, cos I was unsure of their age when I found them. I leave them (marked now) so that she doesn't keep moving her nest. I would imagine that a rodent would go for those eggs since they are out 24/7 but no such luck. They should still be good so no reason for the rodent to avoid them. I stole one yesterday and fed it to the dogs the other night just to be sure that they weren't going bad on me.
I agree it does sound like something a rat would do though.

I just got my internet back after being offline for 4 days, I gotta go back and catch up on all my threads. I have another hatch of buckeyes. I think I had my hatcher too wet, I lost too many right at hatch time. and 2 little BTW Japanese. You should see them running around in there with all the big guys. Well, gotta go read! Catch ya later!

Hey Jim, out my my 30, ended up with 7 hatched, hope you have better luck, but from what I've heard, it won't take me long to get plenty, as long as their not all cock birds. Out of my first 7, I got two hens who are laying daily now (not jumbos). Out of my second batch (also not jumbos) looks like I got lucky with 6 hens and 2 cocks. That would be nice if I could have that kind of luck with my jumbos.

I found someone to get quail eggs from. They ship 40-50 eggs fro 20.00 and that includes shipping.

Does anyone know if you have to have a permit for bob-whites?

I checked the other day with a wildlife officer I saw at a restraunt. Three of them were uncertain about permits for pharoah quail. He called me later and informed me, no permit needed for pharoah quail, but bobwhites MUST have a permit. You can check with your local wildlife officer about permits.
