TSC HAS CHICKS IN!!!
I GOT 6 NEW CHICKIES FROM
TSC!!!!!!!!
I really had forgotten just how TINY they are at first!!!!!!! CUTE as little buttons!!!!
Gotta keep it on the down low though, DH doesn't know about them! I stuck them out in the doghouse with the Marans. Hopefully by the time the eggs in the 'bator hatch out he won't know which ones came from where!!!!! They will hopefully help bridge the age gap between the Marans and the ones in the 'bator. I'll have more of a stair-step of ages instead of two quite different sizes.

TSC has:
assorted Reds, straight run of couse. Looks like red sexlinks and hatchery RIRs
assorted banties, I'm no bantam expert but they looked like a smaller version of the mixed breed bin
assorted straight run (LF) chickens - chipmunk striped, black with the white dot head (barred rock I think), some pretty solid looking black/brown shades (mutts I think??), black and yellow in a sorta chipmonk pattern (I had no clue) and yellow/white chicks (which were Leghorns last year so I didn't buy any more yeller chicks)
I got 6 (the minimum, although the guys that were there didn't have a clue and probably would have sold me a single chick if I tried)
I got 2 that looked to be barred rocks, and 2 of the blackish brown ones, 1 greyish one, and 1 chipmunk baby. All cute as buttons and so tiny!
ETA: In my excitement I failed to mention that I have a new layer! I'm not sure which one it is though. I noticed that I was getting some rather Buff Orpington colored pullet eggs AND some darker, Barred Rock colored pullet eggs, but I couldn't be 100% sure because the color system is a bit wonky at first. I didn't know for sure that I had 2 laying pullets until they both laid on the same day!!! Not sure which one it is, I have 2 BO pullets yes, but the black sexlinks are half BO. I know for sure one of the BSL pullets lays closer to BR color, but the other could take after her daddy I guess. I just don't think the BO pullets are laying yet (combs not very big, roosters aren't mounting them enough for me to notice IF at all)
