Arkansas folks speak up.........

Does anyone ever go to the poultry swap in Russellville on Saturday mornings. It is out on South Arkansas about a half mile before the stoplight on Hwy 247. Just a bunch of people that park in an area along the base of a ridge, selling all kinds of animals, mostly poultry. Location is not very good, but it is free. Very muddy after a rain. Was being held at the old Kroger parking lot for a while. Now that was a great location, and very busy. Sometimes I sell out in 15 minutes and at other times I end the morning taking home birds.

I candled my eggs the other night and had great results(better than I had hoped for). I had 24of 25 guinea eggs still good, 11 of 12 blue splash marans eggs good, and in my other bator all 8 of my bourban eggs showed good. Some of the guinea eggs were 2 weeks old when I put them in. These are all due to hatch next week, so we will see how things go and I will let everyone know.

Send me some of your luck. Sounds like you will have your hands full.

We live in Russellville and I had no idea there was a poultry swap on Saturdays! We will definitely make visits there now! Thank you and it's so exciting to find someone else locally that raises poultry. We just got started a few months ago and love every bit of it.

If you go, go early. By 10 am it is pretty much over. Welcome new egg.

I am taking my daughter and selling a few EE chicks, maybe an australorp hen and cuckoo maran hen. I am getting so many eggs I have to cut down on my layers. The cuckoo was sold to me as a barred rock, but she has white legs and lays a pretty dark egg. Lately her eggs have lightened a little though, but she is a really good hen.

I asked Jen Scott to help me decide if this little chick (the buff one) is a Japanese Bantam or not. You can all chime in with your opinion if you want. I had hatched just one Modern Game out of a clutch of eggs, so I got him a couple of friends. It will be fun if this one is a Jap. I'll have the long and the short of it.

I have a couple of Cuckoo Maran Roo's I need to get rid of and would like to find a home for them. I know one has feathered legs and I think the other one does too but I right now on the top of my head I can't remember. I'm willing to go cheap $5 each. I live in Saline County between Bauxite and Sardis. You can call me 501-249-9196
