Arkansas folks speak up.........

Looks like they are about a week old. When will they need to be moved to the coop...6 weeks when no more heat is needed? how many chicks could you keep in a 105qt clear tote used as a broader? Is there a point before 6 weeks that you need to move them to a bigger broader? How often do you clean out the pine shavings...everyday? Thanks!!

I don't know but our TSC is selling out fast. They have been receiving 300+ at least once a week and selling out within 1-2 days. We went by today for something else and they had already sold what they recieved yesterday. They *thought* they had more coming tomorrow. The worker said they have been having people coming and waiting in line for them after each arrival. Crazy!

Are there any places in Arkansas, Little Rock or soth of that preferable, that process chickens? We are thinking way ahead plus my huband would like for us to raise some meat chickens. I don't particularly want to process them myself though...

Chicks are arriving at Gregg Farms today! We're probably going to have to get them tomorrow since the brooder isn't quite ready. I've been trying to tell what everyone uses to attach the hardware cloth to the tub lid?

I wanted some Bantam Cochins but they don't have those coming, so we're probably getting full sized Americaunas and Bantam Americaunas. They're going to be pets with the bonus that they lay eggs. I hope they're a good breed for that.

My DH used 1x1 wood and screws with washers. It seems to work good also. I would post a pic but it wont let me yet.

Our chicks are home! We got Bantam Americaunas and Buff Orpingtons (3 of each). Gregg's told us to keep them separate for a few weeks until the Bantams are a little bigger. Is it okay to post a picture in here? They're so cute! I didn't realize Bantam meant little!
