If anyone near me (Jacksonville/Cabot) would like to pick up a pair of adult (not quite a year old) Narragansett turkeys, and maybe even an extra Tom in the bargain, drop me a line and make an offer. They're beautiful birds, and it's butchering time, but we're having some health issues here that make it hard for us to get the butchering done.
OR, if anyone is an experienced turkey processor and would like to come over for a processing party, I'll pay you with a turkey (and as many of the extra roosters as you can carry off
)! I don't care if they're skinned, plucked, cut up, whatever--as long as they get into the freezer.
This was taken back in October--they're much more mature now:
Hi! Does anyone close to me want a couple of Salmon Faverolles or Cream Brabanter chicks? I was on Ideal's waiting list and they called this morning. I ordered 4 of each (pullets) for delivery next week. March 19. I really only want one or two of each, I just had to order more to be sure of safe arrival.
I'm in Monticello. I'd be willing to drive an hour or so to meet. I also have a cute little Blue Cochin Rooster that is 5 months old. My husband doesn't like to hear crowing in the morning and this little guy really likes to crow!
Does anyone know of anyone in the Russellville area or farther that will butcher roosters etc..? I did a lot of hatching and looks like I will wind up with a lot of roos.
thanks
I spoke to the county extension agent's office and learned there will be a class taught on Saturday, April 4, in the Fayetteville Arkansas Public Library from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. The topics are Breeds, Housing, and Diseases. I understand it is aimed at the small flock owners, not the big commercial boys. There should be some announcements coming out in the local newspapers. No advanced registration required. I plan to be there.
I just registered so this is my first post. I was tickled to see the section called, "Where am I? Where are you? and all the folks from Arkansas. Yep, I live a bit south of Fayetteville and noticed several from this area. I've been a chicken lover for about 3 years now and really enjoy them. I have an assorted flock, one RIR, one Barred Rock, three EE, one Black Sex Link, two Brown Leghorns, two White leghorns, one Black Austrolorp, and one Silver Spangled Hamburg. That's 12 hens. I have 12 baby chicks coming around April 8th, Can't wait!
