Arkansas folks speak up.........

I'm putting a light on a few pullets to see if it will help in the number of eggs. I've got a few in the bator that are coming around real nice. Don't count the chicks before they hatch. But it doesn't hurt to hope for the best.

Hey just wanted to let you know I started a thread for the 107 eggs hatching. It is below in my signature line. If you return to the 1st post in the thread I will update the numbers as they hatch and continue to add numbers.

Huey everyone. I am looking for a poultry vet that makes house calls. Or maybe one of you pros who give shots to chickens. Maybe even someone who will walk me through the shot giving process so I can just do it myself. Which I find hard to think of. I just can't imagine holding down a wiggle butt baby chick and giving it a shot. I emailed the vet in Hazen but have not gotten a response yet. Thanks.

I saw the pics yesterday. I've got it on subscribe.

I am needing mareks for some new chicks, fowl pox (young and older birds and there was one more but I will have to read through my notes. I think it was for CRD. I can order the meds if I need too if the Vet does not have them on hand. I will have to keep the Mareks on hand anyway for all the new chicks hatching in the next 2-3 weeks. I would be willing to share the meds if someone needs them. I can't use it all in one day. Hey Fogelly you out there tonight? PM if you wanna share.

The mareks is a problem as it is a 1000 dose bottle that reconstitutes and has to be used within a few hours. Some folks are splitting the tablet and diluent so they don't have to mix it all at once, but I have never done it.

That what I have been reading too. I think that's what I am going to try. I think I can give the shots but I would feel better having someone there who has done it before to teach me and make sure I am doing it right for the first time. But I would gladly pay someone to teach me and do them all for me the first time. I know that some people don't give vaccinations but I think I am going to try it and hope for the best.

Another reason is because I want to go to county and state fairs and the Backyard poultry meetup and not worry that I am bringing ick home to my poultry.

Hey Arkansas peeps. I was thinking why don't we post on here chicks, chickens or eggs for sale trade on here as well. I would love to get eggs that came from 50 miles away instead of 1500 miles away. And we all know at one point or another you may have a chicken that needs adopting or for sale. There are so many of us Arkansans on here, surely we could find homes for all the "need home" chickens.... Just a thought....
