For those who have not found it yet, if you hover over the forum tab, there should be a menu show up. Top line, far right it says "I've Posted" that brings you to the threads you've posted in. Mine works in IE but not chrome at home, but works on chrome at work?

Went to the Chicken Swap in Benton this past weekend, found me some Polish chickens.
Didn't get the BYC name of the folks I got them from but her name was Rita from Smackover.
Big thank you to them, am enjoying them. They are going in with my EE hens to create the crested ones that I want.

Also, I pick up a Polish/Naked Neck cross from them, she is a sweetie pie, gave her to my brother, he has NN's and will use her for his program.

There are lots of bells and whistles. Some we may finally discover in a year or so. It helps when others share their discoveries with the rest of us.

Missed you Jen at the Meetup. We did video the Incubation Seminar and as soon as I have time will get it downloaded and hopefully placed online so everyone can see it.

That would most likely be the Huckabees. They are the only ones I know that are from Smackover and they had Polish.

I have a question ?? How do you keep the first chick or 2 that hatches from wrecking the rest of the egg's after setting them in so carefully to hatch. I always have a few chicks that don't hatch out and I think it is due to the rough treatment of the other chicks "kicking them around like a pinball"
Anyone have any ideas??

I personally don't worry about it. I really don't think the movement causes a problem. I've had some that did not hatch after a pip, but those looked exactly like some that pipped before any others hatched so they were not moved around.

However, some people do think it makes a difference. You can take an egg carton, cut out the bottom of the pockets to provide good air circulation, and leave them in there, pointy side down. They don't get kicked around that way.

It may not be the right answer, but what I do is when I have a handful of chicks that hatch and they are DRY and fluffy. (about 2-3 hours) I take them out very quickly and put them in the new born infant brooder. I fixed it like a incubator but larger. I used to take each one out after they hatched about a hour later but I found out that was comprimising my others (heat and temp). So I wait till I get quit a few. Because you are right, they can be pretty rough.
