Arkansas folks speak up.........

Jen and Roslyn,

I don't use the egg carton method, but do you cut away the bottom of the pockets to improve air circulation?

Another question. Have you tried both foam and paper egg cartons? Any differences?

John, just put them in pointy side down. I still have some that just don't make it out, but at least they're not getting knocked around by boisterous siblings.

Thanks for stepping in on the reply, but yes pointy end down. I also think it helps to keep the chick from drowning. I had 11 out of 13 hatch last night and all doing great.

I haven't cut the bottoms out yet and last week hatched out some Welsummers in the cartons, my incubators are genesis fan forced but if you have still air cutting the bottom would sure help. I've used both paper and foam and found the chicks can climb out of the paper better especially the little tiny seramas lol!

HI john and everybody. I just found this site. John was chicks coming out of his ears. I live east of springdale and have raised and showed chickens for years. We have a small farm with chickens--lot's of chickens--sebastopol geese, milk goats ,large black pigs, a pet emu and a large feed bill.
