Arkansas folks speak up.........

We are in an area with lots of timber and farming. An old catfish pond is next door. Everything a coon would want.
I know what you mean. We used to have tons of coons, coyotes, and snakes. We've about got them shot out now. Unfortunately, we lost our guini pair, our pheasant pair, and a chicken before we were able to shoot the second to last coon. My brother tracked it down by a trail of pheasant feathers and shot it in the face. Thank goodness.

I have now idea I got him in what I like to call a bantam bargan
He has either frizzle or sizzle in him judging by the feathers. No clue how he would get the big white ear lobes like a leghorn, though. Very cute bantam bargain!

i would not count on it... coons range about 5 miles and are Territorial and can have 2 litters a year... so there population can expand fast... the more you kill the more food is available to the ones that are left and the more babies they have... as the babies grow up they will range further away from there mothers territory to find there own... so there is basically a never ending supply of coon's...

about 3 years ago my parents lost there family dog... she was 12 YO and a great farm dog she kept all the varmints away when they had her they had no trouble at all... in the next 11 months we killed and or trapped 37 coons and 2 opossums losing over 50 chickens in the proses... finally they got another good dog(after 2 that sucked) and now no more trouble for the last 2 years...

I think it helps that we have a pact with the neighbors. And, there's always the second bet, my little weiner dog named Rambo! Lol, he's just a little guy but makes a good coon alarm. We are always on the lookout for pesky critters. If there are any coon or opossum tracks around the pond, we put the traps out.

Hallfamilyfarm, a question for you: How do you get the for sale adds on your information when you do a post? Is it available to all or do you have to do something special? I have a couple some Favorelles we hatched this spring and I posted them on the classifieds page but have had little response. It seems logical that you have more exposure when you do the posts if it is on your info. thanks.

If I wanted a sale add in my signature, I would make a list called "xxx for Sale" and put a pic of the birds for sale in it. Then I would add the list to my signature. You can do that on your profile.
Edited to add: Make a new list of the birds for sale. Scroll down to the bottom of your profile and click "edit signature text". Then, click the little arrow to the right of "Show off stuff in your signature". The list you made will show up as an option, click on the list you made, then click "Submit", and there you go. You then will have a for sale add in your signature. I just figured this out a few days ago myself.
