People drive me crazy! There are so many birds here but because people don't really like others i can't just walk up and be like "Hi! you have birds! i have birds, we should be friends and you should let me hang around so i can find out more about what we both like!" like i want to. if i did that i'd get funny looks. why is no one is as happy as i am?

Well I would love to do business with u-i dnt have full grown layers for sale but I do have hatching eggs and very soon chicks. I have layer breeds (red productions) and green egg layers. Both breeds are laying machines. The Easter eggers, the kids really like. All lay really big, healthy eggs. I have a colorful egg basket, browns, greens, white and tan. If you would like I can hatch a couple or more dozen for you. $2.00 a chick, $5.00 a dozen for hatching eggs. I have 50 + hatch rate...I will be more than happy to let u know how ive raised mine. I'm still really new to this but I would be more than happy to help in anyway I can..if you have any questions just ask, anyone can help, they have really great ppl here.

i just don't know how many to get. I want a good number of hens but am i more likely to get a lot of roos? I see things about people giving away lots of boys but no girls does that mean that more boys hatch then girls? and will they do well with my ducks? also should i let them run around the yard like the ducks or put them in a pen?

You can always start small and get more or eat them or sell them if you decide you have too many.

No, the number of males and females that hatch are about the same in the long run. I’ve had individual hatches that were 75% female. I’ve had hatches that were over 70% male. I’ve had hatches that were 50-50. Most people want the females so there are more males available but the odds are about even for either.

If you get started pullets then you don’t get any roos

and will they do well with my ducks? also should i let them run around the yard like the ducks or put them in a pen?

I don’t keep ducks but it really depends on your individual situation. I’m sure there are people on this thread that can tell you what they do. But something I’ve learned is that there is no right or wrong way, no way that is right for everyone no matter their individual circumstances. There are a tremendous number of different ways to do these things. Be a bit flexible. With your experience with ducks, you’ll do fine.

I dnt know anything about ducks but ive heard people say they let be together, letting them eat with them. The only thing ive heard said negatively about housing them is that the ducks will be a little aggressive while eating, making a mess of the water. Now about keeping them in a coop I would highly suggest that you do. I would also make them a secure run so they can be out free - ranging. Plus when the hens start to lay if u have them in a coop / run you won't have to play hunt the eggs everyday several times a day. Now for roosters, hens will still lay without a roo. You need a rooster if you want chicks. If you hatch yes you will have a possibly of more roos than needed but u can sell them, eat them. Its not real hard to fix the problem.

Well I did inventorytoday. I have 12 hens of laying age ( not all are lying, just syaing they are of age to lay.), 4 grown roosters, 64 growing chicks, and three 18 week old roosters.
These three roosters (18 weeks old) are going to the sale barn the second Saturday in February unless someone speaks for them first.

Hi Duck Love! I just moved back to Rogers after 4.5 years in Hot Springs. Sorry you're feeling like you can't talk to others, start talking and you might be surprised at who is excited to talk about their passion! As a shy person I am learning that lesson ever so slowly from my...ummm...not so shy husband!
