Arkansas folks speak up.........

@rayray congrats! I think mine might lay her first egg while I'm on vaca for spring break. My mom is being a trooper and watching all the animals for us =)

Woohoo my welsh Harlequin laid her first egg today I wouldn't have noticed it but she was squatting a lot went out and she had fishing line wrapped around her foot went in got a knife to cut the line came back out and she laid a egg lol if her being tangled in fishing line would have cause egg production I would have purposely put some in her pen instead of he accidentally finding it :)
Mine isn't laying yet but i still got good news , my gold laced orpingtons are laying and fertility is good after giving them a feather trim, and the welsh harlequin eggs I got in the incuview incubator should hatch this weekend.

@Ozark, where did you get the eggs from? I was thinking of ordering some ducklings in in 6-12 months to prevent inbreeding... who knows how often the other lady got new stock in =/

Not saying she is a bad breeders, but breeders often inbreed to a point to ensure certain traits.. and only having a couple my inbreeding could get out of control if I don't combat it!

I'm also hoping to get silkies soon from a local breeder... I really do worry about inbreeding though haha. I would with my rabbits except I'm quiet sure they aren't brother/sister from their coloring. One definately seems to be a chinchilla and the other isn't!

You have to take them for their word but I got my eggs from a breeder in Florida who got his stock from dave holderread he is a member here on byc seems to be serious about his duck from his post l can pm you his name if you want and you can see for yourself or you can wait till mine start laying for some.

@Ozark, I'll wait for yours. I've got time until I will need to introduce newbies in and I prefer local, ya know it boosts the economy its greener and I have to think its better for the animals =)

I'm in the NW corner of the state; we are raising seramas right now but used to have a lot of other poultry, just had to downsize. Currently in the market to buy some birds or hatching eggs from some good quality birds.
