Hello Arkansans. I live between Bryant and Benton. First time owning some chickens and it is awesome!

So far I have just been feeding the basic layer pellet from the farmers association and wonder if I can find any better. Can't really afford a full out organic feed or anything and I do feed them a lot of vegetable scraps.

Thinking about giving them an occasional handful of boss.
Would also like to find some local farmer so I can maybe get some bulk grains to mix for them like wheat, barley flax etc.

Are you in the Bauxite/Sardis area?
I'm in Sardis, but have a Mabelvale address.

My daughter decided she wanted to show some of our chickens in the saline county fair this year. I figured "what the heck" We'll just do it this year to see if she enjoys it and then prepare ahead of time next year. We picked out our best BLRW rooster and hen. Even though our chickens are fed and kept well, we didn't expect anything our first time showing but......

She won 1st place, Best Pair, and Peewee Champion Showmanship! Three ribbons and a plaque, not bad for her first time!

Thank you!! She is quite the charmer and very animated when talking about something she's excited about! I'm just glad she a good experience with it. We got to keep her score sheet and she's already made me go over it twice with her!! She'll be ready for senior showmanship at 7 next year lol!!!

Hello Arkansas, I'm about 4 miles from Vilonia. I have 10 chickens of different ages and 3 Turkeys about 6 weeks old.. my two laying hens haven't started laying regularly since they recently hatched their eggs..
