Arkansas folks speak up.........

From the forecasts I’m looking for a lot of wind but not much actual rain. I think the bad stuff will happen up north in Missouri, not Arkansas. We’ll see. But look out for wind.

I went to a Civil War reenactment at Pea Ridge a few years ago. It is a beautiful place.

Hi everyone. I'm just popping in to introduce myself and subscribe to this thread.

I live in Pea Ridge, AR. Besides my hubby, I have 3 cats, 4 cochin bantum pullets, 3 maran pullets, 3 Pekin ducks, 1 Saxony duck, 1 Saxony Drake, 2 Chinese geese.

Gearing up for more rain - oh goody   .

Hello and welcome. :) It sounds like you have an awesome flock! I am not looking forward to more rain coming. They way everyone talks we are gonna get hit with some severe stuff. I like a little rain but after a whole lot of it, it makes my chicken run pretty nasty. Yuck.

I'm with you on the rain. Too much too fast. My runs need a bit of the drying out themselves.

I will definitely keep watch on it. Hopefully we don't get hit with anything too bad. :)

I know it. Just when gets to drying out good it rains again and makes another big mess. Not to mention my white Leghorn hen thinks she's a duck and loves to play in the mud.

The Pea Ridge reenactment is held one mile from my house. Two years ago My husband and I participated in costume. It was February and snowing but was so much fun. I went to the Prairie Grove reenactment this year as a spectator and enjoyed it very much. I used to do hand spinning demonstrations there many years ago.

Welcome Free Spirit. Do you still spin? I have llamas and am always looking for people with skills.

I don't anymore. Still have my Ashford Wheel and a drop spindle and only take them out to do demonstrations now and then. Unfortunately I have a neurological condition so bending my head forward anymore is too painful. Had to quit sewing for the same reasons. I used to raise Angora Goats (mohair) and a merino cross sheep for my own fiber until it became too difficult so I gave them to a fellow guild member. Now I'm raising birds again and it is much better on me.

If you're looking to find spinners to sell or give your llama hair to then check with hand spinning guilds. Here is a list:

Did you do any demonstrations with cotton in Rogers recently? My wife looked at spinning a few years back so I grew some cotton for her. She decided spinning wasn’t for her but had already picked the seeds out. She gave the cotton to some museum in Rogers for spinning demonstrations. I know cotton is harder than many other fibers for spinning.

She is very active in the weaving guild. There are some spinners in that guild so h has contacts with them and the museums and such places that have demonstrations.

She did teach her niece to spin and gave that niece her Ashford wheel.

Sorry, Shiloh Museum in Springdale, not Rogers.
