Arkansas chicken chat
Hello Lavaca from Ozark.
You're right next door! Do you breed? Looking nearby for new breeds to add in the early spring.
haha wife was talking to the neighbors down the road and they said they have seen my rooster and couple hens and a turkey in this wooded area across from them soo this weekend I'm gonna go chicken/turkey hunting hahaThat's a pretty dog. I understand about the road. Mine seems to think the school bus is a threat. Can't break her of it, but what good will she do if she is tied or penned? No good at all. She's getting old, so she isn't into too much chasing anymore.
Back before I had her, I lost all but a couple of chickens. Not a feather to be seen anywhere. I searched and searched, and finally found a pile of their feathers a couple of hundred yards from the house in the woods. So, a pack of something got them and carried them off. I've seen similar happen with just one chicken. Not a sign anywhere, but after walking the woods would find a couple of wing feathers and small pile of fluff about a hundred yards away. So, whatever was taking them was large enough to kill without a fuss and large enough to eat everything (and I mean everything) with one feeding. Not the MO of a regular dog, because I've seen how they leave things after numerous attacks by them, but most definitely could be coyotes. A bobcat (which we have) and lone wolf would only be able to grab one before the others scatter and hide.
