Arkansas folks speak up.........

We call them barnyard mutts. That’s pretty much what I have. Black mottled and red mottled green egg layers but I got bored with the same colors so I’ll put a buff rock rooster over them next year to put the rainbow back in the colors. I assume you mean leghorn instead of longhorn. Autocorrect probably got you.

That will be an interesting hatch as far as colors/patterns go but you should wind up with some pullets that lay very well.

Welcome form the Northwest corner. Glad you joined us.
I've got some pure breeds but I am enjoying the mixes that I have hatched this year. It is interesting to see how the colors come out.

Would of been one funny looking chicken. But I can't say much I have a rooster that thinks he's a dog. Tries to sleep in the dog pen too so he has his own little doggy house. He's quite spoiled because the other chickens are mean to him.

I've heard faint chirping coming from the eggs this morning. Not sure if it's just one or multiple but pretty excited.
I'm excited for you. You must post some pics. I can't wait to see the colors.

Your not late to the party!  You are usually first in line.  How's the new job?  Keeping you busy I guess.

I've not been on BYC much lately, been busy with the new job.

The job is alright but the pay sucks. Guess I shouldn't complain though its helping pay a few bills and me bring able to keep my chickies.

Getting ready to do a New a years Hatch-A-Long, guess what the hens have decided to become stingy. Not laying worth crap. May have to look around and see if anyone local have hatching eggs. I only want to set 5@ or less this year.

Thank you. One pipped and passed and this little guy is the only one who made it so far. He was dragging around his shell but finally got it off but now he's got about 2 inches of goop he's dragging around. He's doing good tho up and moving around and chirping up a storm. The other eggs haven't even wiggled I'm not having high hopes for them.

I am sure you can find eggs --- NN eggs, not so sure.

Fingers crossed that more make it!

We have a little trick to deal with predators (coyotes). We run a northern breed dog rescue and have two wolf-dog hybrids that can never be re-homed due to past abuse. We will actually walk all three around the perimeter of our farm and let them do their scent marking. Not once has a coyote come on to our farm. It works perfectly. :D

Sounds good!

We have llamas that help keep canines of all types away.

Took one to our high school today to the Animal Sciences class for a lesson on llamas.

Well, you could probably market that!
