Arkansas folks speak up.........

Julie,
It was nice meeting you. Yes, we got the three baby ducks,

2 older ducks, a pair of Jap bantams, and 6 chicks of who knows what. Oh, and hubby fell in love with a rooster - so now we have him too.

Jackie - I wish I knew that you were bringing the geese. My daughter wants some but they were going for more than what we really wanted to spend. Not really sure if we want geese.

If we do get some I would want really young ones.

not sure of breed on these ducks or chick

The chick looks like maybe some type of barred rock or domiqnue. I hated to get rid of the geese but they were getting so mean and was eating my chicken eggs. I think if I had went and saw them auctioned I would have cried.

I'm glad you found something.

Amanda, Congrats on the purchases! If you don't want to tell me that's fine, but I was curious on how much the chicks went for. Did you get some blue chicks in with yours? I saw one box of six that looked like it had some blue ones. I would have bid on them if we had room for more big chickens.

Which rooster did you get? There was a little Wyandotte Bantam roo that was the cutest thing ever. I kinda wish I'd bid on him.

Did they sell all those Silkie chicks in one bid? Lots of questions, sorry.:|

Julie, that is no problem. All the chick that we got looks just like the one that I posted. We paid 1.35 for them - the other chicks were going for $3. The Silkies went for $5. Most of the chickens went for 4 all the way up to 15 a piece. Average was 8. I like the big blue pair that was in the back, I don't know if you remember seeing them or not. I really wanted them but they went for $30 as a pair. Too much for me - not knowing what breed they were. I think the rooster might be an Ameraucana - I will post pics later. I didn't even know that my husband was bidding on him until the auctioneer yelled sold. Then hubby turns to me and says I'm done, I got what I want.

All well I can handle that as he pretty much lets me get what I want. Gotta love the guy!!

I agree the chick looks like something barred - barred rock, dominique, maybe a cuckoo maran (to me it looks more like my cuckoo maran chicks more than a BR). Worst case is they are all black sex link roos. Hopefully not! I am no duck expert, but kind od looks like a mallard. Nice finds!

I don't have a clue. That is one breed that we have never raised before. I just thought he looked like one, maybe a cross? Who knows - this is the roo my hubby feel in love with at the sale. He always goes for the larger bright colored roos.

He is a hansom roo for certain. Is his comb a rose comb or a pea comb? It looks like he has little muffs and a beard. He may be an EE mutt. Nothing wrong with them at all, they are my favorite. I have more of them that anything. They are always friendly and very pretty.
