Arkansas folks speak up.........

So sorry to hear of your loss chickeninnewtown. What do you think caused it? We have lost about 8 smaller ones during this ice and cold. Noticed a lot more hawks around, guess they migrated in more during this cold spell.

Friday I noticed a missing silkie. Then I found feathers. I suspected a hawk since I've seen one before. I kept my three remaining hens in the coop until Sunday. Within an hour of letting them out, I saw the hawk attacking. It hit another silkie but it did not injure it. They've been in the coop since then.

I really like to free range my girls during the daytime. I know the only way to do this is to get the hawk. I'm brainstorming ways to do this, but I live in the city limits. This is our first casualty. It sucks.

Just needed a place to post this to read in a bit.

Rare Poultry Antiquities

I have a few birds that i am selling. Silkies, Silver Penciled Rocks, and Heritage RIR.
Would make a nice christmas gift to someone. They are from show stock, but have flaws as
mentioned on my website. Look at my signature below for my website. Pictures and descriptions provided.

I may be willing to let go of additional birds, but have not decided yet.

I am in search of hatching eggs of the following breeds from anyone within a reasonable driving distance to Bentonville, ark. I may even be interested in chicks or started birds. Black Australorp, Orpingtons, Partridge Plymouth Rock or nice barred rocks, If anyone has any available, I would be willing to travel to pick up. Thank you, from Kathy in Pea Ridge.

I might be able to help you with the BR and Orps. I have some nice ones and live in Rogers.
