Arkansas folks speak up.........

Hmmm so when I got 2 turkey eggs 3 duck eggs from the man yesterday I went ahead and sat my 6 welsh Harlequin duck eggs I turned and candled the other eggs and out of curiosity I candled my duck eggs that have been in there for 24 hrs and I can see a small red area in center of yolks signs of growth already I've never seen that not even in chicken eggs I'm kinda hooked on my own duck eggs now hahaha

@raryray when do you candle? Do you incubate then candle? I'm curious is my duck eggs are fertile or not.

I candle when I gather the eggs checking shell quality then I candle day 7 14 21 and 25 before lockdown other than incubating the way to check fertility is crack open eggs and look for the bulls eye :) I've never seen duck eggs show growth in 24 hrs normally its day 5 to 7 and I'm new to turkey eggs so I'm learning as I go and when I see baby palm turkeys selling online for 10 - 12 bucks each makes it worth it to me I'm giving him back all the ducklings of his I hatch they are Peking muscovey mixes so they will be mules :-( but should still be pretty babies

So my 21st birthday is coming up and I asked my husband for a chicken tractor, some silkies, and to devise poop/pee trays for two of our cages that didn't come with them. I'm officially addicted!
