She's a prolific and popular author of several mystery series, including the "Sookie Stackhouse" series of books. Those all have the word "Dead" in the titles, like "Dead As A Doornail," etc., and are about vampires living among us. They're set in north Louisiana, but the author herself lives in Magnolia. HBO's new series, "True Blood," is based on the Sookie Stackhouse books--Anna Paquin plays Sookie.

One of Harris' other mystery series is actually set in South Aransas. Here's her website:
