Arkansas folks speak up.........

Thanks to you both! I'm glad to be here and have learned a lot from this site. I will post pictures when we are finished with our coop and run!

Just joined in after bringing home some Doms and Swedish Flower Hens! Love being able to get questions answered from those who know from experience so this site is a big help. So, HELLO! I'm jumping in from the River Valley. :)

Welcome a aboard! Glad to have another Arkansawyer with us.

I've never (probably never will) ordered chicks online. No reason really, other than shipping costs, lol. I'm all about buying local or within a reasonable driving distance and I'm becoming a victim of chicken math! I have 18 chickies in a huge coop and too many I can tell are already roosters. I'm interested in anything bold in color that you won't find in Tractor Supply or your local feed store.

Anything available near the Fort Smith area?

Wow, you just mentioned the main reason to order chicks, species variety that you can't get locally.

It is always better (at least in my mind) to buy locally if you can find what you desire. As far as ordering on line, before there was an online, you got hold of a catalog and placed your written order by mail along with your check or money order. You can still do it this "Old Fashioned Way", which works quite well even in this age of technology.

In our area, it is hard to find some breeds that we would like to have in our flock. This makes it a sure thing that we will have to place and order with a hatchery if we want those breeds.
