Arkansas folks speak up.........

what's your favorite? Did you show any of them? My kiddos plan to try and show them at fair time.
They all have their own personality! The Houdan's are crazy but I love them. Watch any of the Houdan roos as they become mature because they do have aggressive tendencies.

The Favorelle's are very docile and tend to get pushed around by more assertive birds so be aware of that.

I have no experience with the lakenvleders and hamburgs.

Silkies are sweet but stupid.

We had a difficult time with the hatches we did with the silkies for some reason.

We have shown all of them at county fair and with different ones and different breeds have brought home Grand and Reserve more than once. You are getting a great blood line, just do your research on what the Standard of Perfection (SOP) for each breed is and try to pick the birds that most closely match. Even with great blood lines you sometimes get mediocre birds but with big enough numbers, you are bound to get some winners. You are in a great place to ask questions. Everyone on this site has been very helpful.

How many eggs are you getting?

Getting 100 total

How do you go about getting eggs from U of A?

They have a list of available breeds for 4H and FFA peeps to hatch out for educational and show purposes. I'm not sure if it's limited to those groups, but I'm pretty sure they take priority. You can give them a call and let them know what you're inquiring about and they'll get you to the right person. Very nice people. I spoke to a Howard and Doug in the hatchery.

Joelene is correct. They have changed some of their procedures due to the Avian Flu and you can no longer go and pick them up. I am not sure how they go about giving them out now.

Our agri teacher from the school has to go pick up the flats. We can't go, but he is picking up our order.
He is picking up for his ffa kids and our 4h club.
