Everything is going great. The dark blue silkie I got from you went broody so I have her sitting on 12 bantam blue frizzle polish eggs right now. The red one has not gone broody and lays about 5 eggs a week - not bad for a silkie. I have a few other chicks in the works as well. My black Australorp hatched them and she is a super Mom! Most of them are cochins - standard and bantam. So the backyard is a lively place right now.

Wow, thats terrific! The girls will be happy to know that the Silkies are doing well. Sounds like you've definately have your hands full!
Bantam Blue Frizzled Polish sound gorgeous!!!
You know, all the Silkies and Cochins I had were better layers than I expected. I have one Cochin bantam that started laying at less than 20 weeks, something like 17 or 18 weeks, and has barely missed a day!
I have a broody Silkie right now too. I'm not sure who's eggs she's sitting on, but probably at least 2 are hers and maybe one or two she got from the other hens. She's on four. I also have a Cochin bantam on a few eggs, either 5 or 6.
Oh, your girls are all doing great too. I didn't know how much I'd like the Leghorns but I really like them, especially the friendlier one. Now that the Marans and Welsummer have relaxed, they are so sweet. The Marans is sooo big, lol, which is really cool! They both lay fairly dark eggs to for hatchery birds, and the dark color really adds a nice look to a carton of eggs. In fact, here's an example...
