Arkansas folks speak up.........

YAY, a hatching party! 4 of mine are out now 2 feather legged 2 clean legged 2 cockerels and 2 pullets. I have 11 others that are pipped and working. I only have 2 eggs that have had no type of action, 1 of which I thought died a few days back, but left in there to see. Pretty good for my first hatch and in a cheapy LG!

DH and I are going to TSC tomorrow because we need more chick starter and also some bigger feed and waterers since I'll need the little ones for the new babies that will be here soon. Also he's going to start my runs this weekend because it's time for the 6 week olds to start venturing outside of the coop.

Roche - what day were you on when they started pipping?

They started pipping 4 hours short of 20 days, got 7 hatched, 2 more zipping now, and 5 pipped and working, 2 with no action, 1 was clear and I removed at 10 days. I can't believe how many have hatched!

I am hoping yours hatch real well too Chicky Tocks!

I am soooo jealous over the guinea eggs. I used to complain because the neighbors guineas would come in my yard and make lots of noise. Now I love em and get worried when I don't see them in my yard!

Congratulations to everyone that are hatching.

Amanda, I have 3 baby quail so your male quail are doing their job.

I have one hen still sitting, she has hatched eggs twice and I put some more eggs under her. I take the chicks when they hatch because we have barn cats and I'm scared of the cats eating them.

We have an 8 ft chain link fence dog pen that DH has but chicken wire all around. We have a dog house and some lights for them to get under at night. We also have 2 old rabbit pens attached to the sides of it for the chicks/duck until they feather out more with lights. This is the best set up we have done. I normally have rubber maid bins in the house and it's so messy. They have grass and room to run around.

I wasn't feeling well last Saturday so I didn't take any chicks to the auction but hopefully will get to in June they will be older and more feathered out.

What auction is this an where is it located at ??? I go to one on the 1st an 3rd Fridays of each month in Monroe OK but don't know of any others nearby.........

Final Hatch report, set 18 eggs, removed 1 clear at 10 days. Hatched 16 of 17 remaining eggs. The 1 egg that didn't hatch I thought had not developed far. I opened it up and it had a nickel sized black mass in it and lots of runny yolk. Cleaning incubator and setting up for next batch of eggs. Just call me addicted!

I have a brooder full of fuzzballs!
