Arkansas folks speak up.........

Roche477, I don't think medicated food would kill them, because there really isn't very much medication (amprolium) in it anyway.

Most companies put in the minimum amount of amprolium required by law to be able to label the food as medicated. It's very little and not enough to make a big difference, but the feed company can charge more, so they do it. I've bought both types and have had about the same success rate, but when one of mine actually gets coccidiosis (spelling?), I give amprolium in the water for 5 days. It's a lot better.

Jarhead - sent you a PM - congrats on the ducklings

Roche - sorry to hear about your baby
I have to agree it prob wasn't the feed.

I'm going to try hard to come. I'd like to get your hen!

How about you let me know on friday if you are coming, and I will bring her for you if you are.

Update:
The polish females and the splash cochin are spoken for.

Still available:
free mixed roo
polsh males - 2 are very nice looking and may end up being SQ and would be good for a breeding program
maybe the LF barred cochin (wifey poo may want to keep)

That sounds good Jarhead. I should know by then.

I know most of these are a long shot, but I'm looking for...

Mille Fleur, Blue Millie, or Golden Neck d'Uccle pullets, hens or hatching eggs.

Frizzle or Smooth White Bantam Cochin pullets or hens

Pullets or young hens of a good laying breed

Lavender Ameraucanas, male and/or female chicks or adults (I have some Black/Lavender Splits already)

Silver Laced Bantam Cochin pullets, hens, or hatching eggs

Silver Spangled Hamburg (standard) pullets, hens, or hatching eggs

Standard/Giant Partridge Cochin pullets, hens, or hatching eggs

Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Marans pullets, hens, or hatching eggs

***Hey, can someone post the link to the meetup again? I can't find it and I need to sign up.***

Oh, and here are a few of my very first Blue Wheaten Marans eggs in order. She laid one more yesterday after I took this photo and it's a tad darker. It's funny how each one has been a tad darker than the previous days. I love the speckles.

Of course, the Wheaten/Blue Wheaten variety doesn't lay eggs as dark as the Black Copper, but I prefer the Wheaten color.

Can't wait for the eggs to get bigger!

those are very nice - I like spotted dark eggs - the welsummer lays a really speckled egg as well not as dark but more spots, our black sex link also lays a huge XXL medium-dark egg with speckles.

Right, the welsummer I got from you lays a gorgeous one too. Except for these, they're the darkest I get, also with pretty speckles. I also LOVE black sex link eggs!

I edited my first post to ask if someone would post the link to the meetup. I looked back but can't find it. I'll be back online tomorrow and will get signed up.

Hope you all have a nice day!

Cherry- I have Giant Partridge Cochins in the incubator right now, so I might be of some help with those in the future.

My little silkie is still alive and seems to be doing better. It started improving with sugar water and moist, mushy feed. It only has 4 toes on each foot, so I wonder if that is part of the balance issue. I know there are lots of silkies running around with 4 toes instead of 5.

I have 57 eggs in the incubator right now and ALL are developing. I had 58, but 1 of my Black Jersey Giants was clear. 40 of the eggs are shipped eggs, so at this point I am extremely pleased! I have 15 quail eggs in my homemade incubator.

Rbam- 9 of those eggs in my main incubator are from the blue trio we got from you. I put 9 in and all 9 are developing. They are due to hatch on the 30th!

So far absolutely nothing from the BCM eggs. Or the 3 EE/BO eggs.

I plan to be at the meet next weekend and if anyone is interested, I have a beautiful black and copper EE/Polish mixed roo. He almost looks a little BCMaranish...He has a pretty little top knot and he's going to be a beautiful rooster! I just can't keep him because I have 3 others and an adult roo which makes too many roos and I'm still trying to decide who to keep of my EE boys. He is 12 weeks old today.

This is Duffy:
