Is anyone interested in one or more pekin drake(s)? I have 3 Pekins that I suspect are male (based off of their voice) 11ish weeks old. We have 2 Rouen and 1 Khaki Campbell that I’m pretty sure are female so our ratios are a bit off and I’m hesitant to keep drakes since we also have chickens. I’d hate to see them go and the kids love them all but figured I’d put out a feeler here before trying Craigslist or next door. We’re not in a rush to get rid of them but I can imagine once they start trying to mate we’ll change our tune. We’re in Central Arkansas.

I’ll post some pictures in a bit

ETA: pics

We’ll likely keep Nibbles because he is my daughter’s favorite and he has a little bit of leg issues but I’m open to getting rid of him as well.

Daisy has feathers growing out of (his?) legs and has since we got him.

They’re currently on Purina Duck Feed and they also free range a good portion of the day
Well these white ducks have proven themselves to be drakes now for sure. I’ve seen some attempts at mating going on as well as drake feathers. Emerald has 2 drake feathers, Nibbles has 1, and Daisy’s is growing in. We may be able to keep 1 (Nibbles) but if anyone knows of anyone in Central Arkansas that wants a drake or 2 let me know.

(I suppose I could attempt to build a 2nd shelter and just keep 2 different flocks)

Anyone here familiar with the NPIP certification process in AR? I'm just curious if they test all birds. I have a bad back and the thought of having to chase down 100+ chickens:barnie is making me rethink certification. I'm hoping they only test a percentage of them.

I looked in most all the lists here an seen only a few folks from AR I know there must be more around .....I am in west central not to far from a place called Mena ........anyone else around???just so y'all will be able to put a face to the person

South Arkansas, Union County, El Dorado area, little town called Calion. I raise Ohicki bantams. Been stuck on chickens for 63 years. Have had almost every common breed of bantam and a many not so common. Have also had ducks, geese, turkeys, cage birds (finches, canaries, lovebirds, etc.) pheasants, quail, basically anything with feathers. I've told my kids that when they put me in the nursing home they will need to take some chickens with me.

Chicks in Ash Flat, AR
Bantams and standard sizes.
2-3 weeks old.

Some pure bred polish, the rest are probably a mix of the following (some parents pictured, and egg colors):
-Golden Phoenix
-Sebright
-White Crested Black Polish Bantams
-Splash Silkie
-Barred Rock
-Leghorn Mix
-Cinnamon Queen

Currently there are a lot of black bantam chicks that look like they are part sebright, one golden sebright looking chick, some mixed colored bantams and standard size chicks.

All chicks $1.50 except the polish which are $3.

Will have pure silkies in a few weeks and next year will sell more breeds all pure bred that will be NPIP certified.

They test 100% of your breeding flock and I think 10% of your non breeders. I recommend calling Faye, she is really informative. (5018231717)

I am getting my certification in a few weeks, they are backed up since covid and it's a 10 to 12 week wait. And yes you do have to catch all the birds. Faye recommended having multiple pens to keep track of the ones that have or haven't been tested.

Hello all!

I have to sell some of my sweet ducks as I have way to many at this time. They were hatched in April-June and should start laying soon! I have Indian Runners and Indian Runner Ancona mixes for sale! The Indian Runner is a good layer and Ancona ducks are a good dual purpose breed.

Males $15, Females $20, and Pairs $30.

If you have any questions or want pictures please PM me. Thank you!!
