Arkansas folks speak up.........

I live about 20 miles from there I personally never been there but knew of a friend who went there to ride and he did say while on the trail ride ever time the horses saw so good grass to eat they could not hardley get them away from it ....so sad.I am personal not a horse person but I am a animal person and people like this do not deserve to own any kind of animal.Maybe someone should tie them up in 100 degree weather put a saddle on them and ride them around all day.

Oh, I know to be careful with the buck, that's why the door stayed between us, lol! He sure was beautiful. Too bad one of his does was killed, but I saw 3 in the yard last night, so he must have a harem!

About the Cuckoo Marans and the Barred Rocks. The Cuckoos should have pink or white legs, most with dark or black shadowing/shading on the fronts. The Barred Rocks will have yellow......but I have some with pinkish yellow, so they must have a little Cuckoo blood in them. My Cuckoo hens are also darker than my BR hens, with a less distinct white striped pattered, almost dotted with white instead of striped. A good BR will have very even and defined striping.

I live in Foreman, Arkansas. Just moved here few months ago. I am not in Georgia anymore. I lived in Georgia all my life (43 years). I thought it was time for a change. Boy what a change I got. I stayed in Benton for awhile and loved it but my fiance moved us to Foreman and I will tell you this place is like right out of the stone age. I want to go to a larger city a.s.a.p.

No matter where you move to ...if it's right out of the stone age...and your use to something else (I was too!) it does take some getting use to. but with time...you'll slow down and realize what kind of things are important and if you stay for a while..you'll not only accept things but you'll get to like them and do your own thing....it just takes time and settlin down a bit.

I sure hope that you are right cause I just dont know if I will learn to like it or not. It seems that everyone here has so little to do that they are up into everyone elses business. I do like the area, the laid back atmosphere but I am use to being in an area like Benton or Little Rock. But I am here and will give it my best try. Thank you!!

I know what you mean by the busy bodies! My husband and i waited until we were more "settled" to move back home. It s a good thing too cause some of these ladies would of been in a real tizzy at some of the crazy late nights we enjoyed in our early years.

Hang in there!!1

Yeah, I know what you mean when you say that about nosie neighbors! It's like that around here too..but there IS a good thing about that...if someone shows up at your place and they're not supposed to be there...your neighbors has a description of the car/truck, the people in it, what time they were there and alot of the time they got the license plate too........atleast in my neck of the woods...and if something is missing or someone is hurt...the neighbors are the 1st ones to know! There is also another side too....remember the movie "son in law"? where the guy talks about inbreeders? I think they got that from the town I live in !!!!! When I 1st came here over 20 yrs ago...no one would hardly speak to you, open their doors to you (if you needed information) or rent to you. I tell ya...if it kept that way the only ones they would have to breed with is their own...that's NOT good!!! the good part is that when they know you've moved in and they know your going to be staying around they open up and talk to you and say more than a few words. It's just how small towns go........keep hanging in there........

The longer you stay in Benton, the more it feels like a small town. Especially because my FIL has lived here for 40+ years. He says things like "we used to live up there, that house burned down, we lived here for a while.....that used to be a jean factory then it turned into a cat littler factory, that used to be.... so-and-so used to live there....."
I used to work in Bryant, drive there and back every day.....now it's like a special trip to go "THAT" far away (hehe, like 6 miles)
