Arkansas folks speak up.........

We got the sleet first then 8 inches of snow total on top of that. DH just went out and measured. Supposed to be at the casino on OK today but noooo lol stuck inside cooking. Did a swap with a coworker though, I work online. Got Mon and Tues off so hopefully roads will be fine to drive to OK by then.

Morrow, AR here, 25 miles SW of Fayetteville. 1" of ice, then about 8" of snow and INCHES of mud under it all...ugh! I sank WAY above my lace up winter boots in the mud outside my stallions' paddocks, which meant the snow was then up to my knees @@ while icy water ran into my boot tops!

My husband has had to stay home the last two days (awesome

). We live at the very top of a mountain and there's no easy way downhill right now. When we were doing afternoon chores yesterday I grabbed an old political sign, a few haystrings, a tie down & the 4 wheeler and this is what kind of fun (slowly, because Zac is only 3) we had up here on Hale Mountain

That looks like so much fun. I have to admit to a little jealousy. Brings back good memories, though.

I tied an old tire behind our kawasaki mule and colton and me took turns dragging each other through the pasture . We had a blast !!!!

Socks (the cat) came back inside!!!!!!! My lap warmer is back!

Hawk growled at her and I made it VERY clear that wasn't allowed around here. He tried once more, and finally settled down. When she got in my lap he just laid in his bed like a good boy.
The hardest part about training him on this is trying to get the cat's cooperation!!!!

My road melted off today. My yard is still pretty crunchy, but mostly turning to MUD and the chickens are having a field day! HOW MUCH LONGER till the Bermuda grass comes back in????????? I swear, you just can't kill it, but the chickens are trying to get a head start while it's not growing!

What happened to 57*F and sunny today??? I didn't see the sun shine till it was about to set

Ooooooh well. I had a pretty good (unproductive! lol) day off of work. Slept in and snoozed till noon! Went to TSC to get flock raiser and misc stuff, took my hubby out to eat, played a bunch of fetch and took a bunch of pictures of the critters. Got some grain free Taste of the Wild cat food to try, since cat food was at the top of the shopping list this payday. Hope they like it!

This pic sums it up well: chickens + fetch + lack of sunshine

And I added some new pix to the link in my siggy, plus I'm offering a couple of Buff Orp cockerels up for sale on the auction section if any of yall Arkansans want to get 'em. They're great roosters (NICE to me!) I just have too many. They go to freezer camp in a couple of weeks if nobody wants them.

I called my daughter and told her I wouldn't be at work today. First I had to go into town to get some catfood and my husband's medicines. Then we set up and prepped cages for a major move. The OEGBs and Sebrights are going into separate pens after dark. The banty sitting on eggs in the cast net on top of the boat got moved with her eggs and two brand new chicks into a cage. The mottleJapanese banties went into a new (to me) hutch. The longcrowers and one buckeye raised together came out of their growup brooder and into their new-to-me outdoor hutch. I didn't get the pen ready for the Buckeye trio, so they will go in a turkey cage until this weekend. The the Boubon Red turkeys will go where the Buckeyes were, and the Royal Palms will go where the oegs and sebrights were.

Sounds like lots of chicken juggling fun. Have you made any changes to the banty barn? Just curious. My little rooster George has taken up residence with the big girls in their pen. I get a kick out of him running his legs off chasing them around the yard.
