Arkansas folks speak up.........

This is my first go on selling anything. What do the birds go for? I know it ranges depending on breed, age, sex etc. but any ideas on what to ask for them in this location? Mine are 8weeks old, and I have boys and girls.

At most sells. I have seen every price from $3 to $15 for that age. Sometimes more. What do YOU think they are worth? And remember you can always go down. For example, you can start at $10 and go down every 2 hours or so.

Our chicks are pets, and I guess I am more concerned that they go to a good home, and not the dinner table. I'd like a little money to help offset grow out costs. I've got them posted on the BST here, and have had views, but no offers. I may have to try Dardnelle in a few weeks.

Thanks for the input. Is there any central location where swaps/meets etc are posted?

Well, I payed $30 or $35 for 5 easter eggers. I saw a pet quality buff cochin rooster there for $5. I payed $30 for a couple of turkeys there. I think I would price the girls at $10 and the boys at $7, but it just depends on what is okay with you and how bad you want to get rid of them. I'm not real great with prices. Your birds are at the perfect age to sale. Old enough to be off a heater but still young enough to be cute youngsters. I would recommend that you bring either an adult favorelle or a picture of what the chicks will look like as adults so that people can get an idea of what they would be buying. (and also to tempt them into getting them

And the insanity continues! I got my order from Welp Hatchery on Friday. We ordered 25 chicks--they sent 31. I was worried about the two-day shipping time, but so far I haven't lost any. Very active birds, eating like pigs. So I am now chicken momma to, get ready for this, a total of about 75 chickens. In addition to the 9 ducks and 2 turkeys.

Our big coop is not going to be big enough. Time for new construction!
Woah! That's a lot of birds. Congrats on the new chicks!

What time? Where? Is there a cost? Can you sell, or just swap? I've never been to one, but I have a few 8 week old Favorelles I need to sell.

It is in the morning. You want to get there early (9:00 is when I would be there, maybe a little earlier). It is on Highway 28 leading out of Dardanelle on the left hand side on this open gravel spot by this place that sales used washers and appliances. Lol, sorry, I know that's not a very good description but I have never noticed any specifics since we already knew where it was. There are tons of washers and driers, though, as a landmark. You can sale birds, buy birds, and swap birds. There is no fee and it's a pretty small swap. Be warned: you need to really watch the birds there, some are not in great shape and can be carriers of diseases. But, now that that is said, I do want to say that there are some good birds there. You should have no problem getting rid of your favorelles there if you so wish.
I wish I was closer? I need a young male Favorelle. My 2 girls are about the same age.

I've been to the Dardanelle swap a couple times. The last time I went, I saw mostly game fowl chickens (is that what they're called?). A LOT of roosters too. I wasn't too impressed, but it was 8:00-8:30 a.m. when I was there. I do know that you have to get there early. I drove by Saturday at about 9:30ish and there was nobody there.
