You are not a mean grammaMy sister lost all 5 or 6 of her rabbits.Gave them fresh water for morning and went to give them fresh water a little later, and all dead????? I only have one rabbit and moved him inside a couple days ago. He was already panting badly and I was afraid he might not make it through the heat we are having. 104 real temp yesterday. I have turned out all my chickens but a couple cages. Rooster fights... and some still to small to be running loose. Changing the water for all of them every few hours. So far we haven't had a problem, but they are as hot as I am out there! Good luck to all out there.
On a sadder note: a neighbor of mine lost her 13 yr old sister to heat stroke yesterday. She lived in central Missouri and was out playing with others when she went in to get them a drink and came back out she fell to the heat stroke. She did not make it and died shortly after arriving at the hospital. My heart and prayers go out to their friends and the family.
Everyone take note; this heat can kill. Please everyone stay safe!
My poor grandkids I babysit think I am mean . I haven't let them out of the house for 2 days until after 6:00. Twin boys 8 and girl 5. Guess I'll just be mean ole granna........
No losses yet (knock on wood). My wyandottes are doing fine, but the younger barred rocks are suffering. They hardly come out of the coop since it's cooler in there. But the wyandottes (or fat girls, as we call them) don't seem to care that it's sizzling hot. My 3-week-old wyandottes are living in the garage and are just thriving. The garage is built underneath the house and stays cooler so they don't even know that it's a million degrees outside! How is everyones birds holding up to the heat? Any losses?
