Arkansas folks speak up.........

URGENT!

Need someone in or near Little Rock to meet a friend on Monday. He is coming from Texas with some RIR juveniles for one of our youth members here. Will also need them housed and cared for until we can get them to Dumas, Arkansas. I have emailed his mother to see if they can meet the fellow on Monday. Just need to have a backup plan.

Got another egg today!!! This makes the 3rd one, one a day so far. They are perfect, shape, hardness, size. We ate the third one to see if it was ok, YEP delicious!! My daughter is loving going to get her egg after school. I hope this weekend we can figure out who is laying. But it is fun guessing who it is.

Whoever it is...they are even laying in the nest box..different one everyday but in the box

We received the following PM from a BYC Michigan friend and hatching egg customer:

My father-in-law said we received 9.5" of rain. I did not check the news on that. We did receive 2 1/2 5 gallon buckets of rain. I showed Jacob (9) two buckets we had out. I told him not to tough them until I said so. Yesterday I showed him the buckets half full of water. He was amazed that there was so much rain.

We did survive.

We did decide to replace the shredded tarp turkey roof with a metal roof...... in the middle of Tropical Storm Isaac. We have a trio of Narragansett turkeys, a trio of BBS Orpingtons and a lone Black Muscovy drake in the turkey coop. The drake was even soaked. Thankfully all are dry now. With so much rain at one time, the tarp just could not hold that much water.

Jim, you were definitely on the wet side. I got a total of 0.6" here according to my rain gauge. Not really a drought buster. I made one quick trip to the store yesterday and went through a pretty heavy shower in town, so how much we got up here will depend on which showers hit where but it was not anything like yours.

Glad to hear you got enough rain to fill some farm ponds and that you and yours are OK. Hopefully people were not hit too hard with flash floods.

River Valley got a nice steady rain most of the day, heavier at times but a good soaker. I am not sure on our totals but they were predicting around an inch. We could use a little more but won't complain with what we got. Some of the birds enjoyed a walk in the drizzle. I have crazy chickens that seem to enjoy being wet.

I did have to zip tie the tarp back down on our coop but no one was affected! I was so worried cause the last big rain the chickens were so stressed. We got several inches here on the White River, but we could use a lot more. But my chickens~especially Tom is so glad the rain has stopped. We still got one egg a day, Ruby white leghorn is the one who is laying. Ezmae isn't far behind. Glad everyone came through the storm ok.
