Arrested For A Balloon Fight-Are you kiddin'?!?!?!?!?!?!

Not compared to how much my arm and eyes were hurting. Once it's gone it's gone. Never had an phantom pains or anything. I was the same way when I had my double masectomy. Sore, yes, but no real pain, phantom or real. Did have some phantom sensations that I wasn't exepcting

Reading the newspaper over the weekend I read an article about a man who was jailed for chewing gum inside the courtroom!! He got 30 days for contempt of court! He is somehow out on bail while contesting the sentence.... All that for a bubble?? If he does the time it will cost tax payers up to $6000 for his time in confinement.

It happened in the Moorabbin Court in Melbourne Australia last Thursday.

since everyone has low money, the police do everything to arrest someone!

We don't randomly arrest people in court for contempt to make money. Contempt of court is an order set forth by the judge. And you don't think there might actually be more to the story than the simple act of chewing gum? C'mon ...

Yeah, I think if the court was trying to raise money for the city/state they'd have fined the guy for contempt, not jailed him. Jailing just takes money from the budget. Of course, paying the bond money could be considered a fine... weird.

I got suspended for a day in high school for 'passing a pencil' in study hall. That's what it said on my suspension form. 'Passing a pencil' and then it explained how I passed a pencil to classmate and should be disciplined. The horror!

There's more to it... but basically, the take home lesson was that people in authority positions can and do overreact and that somebody is going to pay. No matter mistaken or wrong that person of authority might be.

As for the original post and a link to the story, a witness said: "It was almost like a riot & Like a gang war but with water not bullets," C'mon, seriously??... it's a water ballon fight.. Snowball fights look like wars too. Next kids will get busted for playing cops and robbers, the kid cops will get busted for impersonating an officer and kid robbers for conspiracy.
If only we could convince real gangs to use water filled ballons instead of guns, knives and pipes.

As for the litter comment, how do we know they weren't going to clean up afterwards?
I had a water balloon thrown at me last year. I'm still living with all my limbs intact. And my eyes, nose, mouth, toes, everything except for some of the skin on my knee. It was scraped off during gym class. Yes,there's a pain in my leg, but that's because the class bully pegged me today.(Threw a ball at me HARD in an attempt to knock my pin down. And when I took is flag off in flag football, he TOLD on me and almost broke my finger.) Whatever,we're getting off topic.
If someone was allergic or something like that and they threw them at him/her ON PURPOSE,okay, I can see charging them. But no,that didn't happen.
I almost got poisoned with sanitizer in a water bottle. The person that did it got away scot-free. Yet you arrest someone for a balloon fight? Does that make any sense?

Ever year at my kids school the last day is water ballon day and all kids who rode in run to the parking lot and get out thier water ballons.

^ That's what we've done for End of Year parties... it's HOT in Texas in June... but after the first year, and us moms having to hunt down all those bits of plastic (we were at the park) we switched to water bombs... balls that absorb water, just put a 5g bucket of water at each end of the field and you can refill... then after just gather the balls... it's worked really well.

Littering was the only law I could come up with that maybe might make sense... but that was a stretch. I don't know where the bleach thing came in, if at all, but I couldn't figure out how that would be possible.

Didn't even think about the latex allergy thing... got a cousin with that, but usually washing the site helps, so seems like using a water balloon full of water would kinda defeat the purpose if that was the purpose.

Whole thing makes NO sense, unless you figure it was just a bunch of kids having fun on an uber hot day... like their parents... have done for years...
