I try make mine as positive as possible. When I write a review I most often write what I appreciate about but very rarely mention my dislikes. Besides, all the articles I've read have more pros than cons! I think it's better to uplift than criticize.

I agree that it is good to try to keep ratings / reviews positive, but I also think that they should be a good way to sort good information from bad. For example, an article full of blatant misinformation would get a very low rating from me, even if it had good grammar.

The same here! I always try to see articles positive, at least the author has something to tell us and sat down and wrote an article. So i mostly value the information and are very forgiving for mistakes in grammar and spelling. Also a very important factor for me is how the author has documented the topic; pictures, drawings, tables are of very high value, typographic deserts are hard to read and lower the rating.
I point out ways to enhance an article In my reviews if i have to hand out a low(er) rating and i have changed my rating if the article was rectified.

Well yes, I agree. If I find a bunch of incorrect information then I will mention that, but there aren't many like that.

I know I posted this thread awhile ago, but I just had a new thought.

Sometimes new members are confused and don't know they are posting an article. They think it's a thread sometimes. For example: Newbie person posts an article and was meant to be a thread....and they say "this is my coop" and post a picture..... and that's all. Now, that's a find thread! But an article? Probably not. Then, people come along a rate and review the article 1 star and say "won't you add detail?" or "this would be a better thread".

Well, why not just PM the person or post in the comment section below and tell them nicely: "Hello, nice picture of your coop! You will probably get more replies and have more people see your picture of you post this as a thread, not an article.".... or something like that. Also explain to them how to post a thread.

We have added notices at the top of the articles section explaining where questions should be posted, but it happens anyway. The site will always be too complex for some people to understand / be able to use properly, but I think we have made it quite usable for most people.

Many people do leave the comments informing the member of where their question should be posted, and when we clean up questions that were incorrectly posted as articles, we send alerts to the poster informing them of their error and where their question should be posted.
