ASK ME!!

chickens peck each other for lots of different reasons... as long as she dont bleed or show any signs of injury I wouldnt be to worried bout it. Once the babies are hatched she will protect them but it would not hurt for u to watch and observe their actions around one another to make sure the momma can handle protecting her babies
ok thankyou I will wait to see how things go :)

I have 4 roosters and 9 chickens that I adopted and bought through the 6 months "experience" I have since moving to my house. We bought a coop and put it in a huge fenced yard that already here for the previous owner to keep her dogs.
In the yard there were some wild chickens that sleep on the trees and just roam the yard during the day. Very often they come to the chicken run to eat and hang out and during these visits several chickens got fertilized. Many already tried to brood and died already. There are only two wild chickens left. One of them entered the coop and had 7 babies today!!!
I am SOOO excited!! It was killing me to know they were dying off. Now the big question: Is it safe to let them be with the others as long as mom is around or should I separate momo and babies from the others until the babies are older?
Please let me know urgently, I don't know that to do today. So far I closed the mom and babies in the bottom part of the coop, but need to let the others in for the night soon.
thank you!!!

as long as the mom and babies are not being harmed its always best to leave them with the flock so that there is no confusion when u introduce them again... momma will take care of babies
