Asphalt-looking poop?

My Rhode Island Red has been laying on a clutch of eggs for about a week, and today she accidently broke one. I took her out to clean her and the laying box and while she was out she had some nasty poop. It was dark black, kind of resembling asphalt, and squirted out over half a foot long. It stunk really bad. Is this normal for chickens laying on eggs? Should I be giving her some special kind of nutritions? Please help. Thanks

Mine did that when setting eggs, too. They'll hold it while on the nest, then come out and drop a big nasty one.
