Thanks all for your advice. I'm helping someone out who has had a year of epic failures hatching eggs this year. Not many hatched out of 110 eggs and those that did, died of what I believed to be botulism per their symptoms. So I stepped in for this last separate batch of 6. All were fertilized but half went bad. So with the three left I've been a little nervous.

Aww, poor things. What breed are they?

Yes, loud and healthy little duckling!

Not at all my intention to be snippy, just to inform anyone reading that the info had been obtained via these forums. Had my suppositions or info been wrong, I'm sure that would have been an opportunity for you or someone else to let me know I was basing my conclusions on flawed info...and again, anyone else reading who might have the same questions and observations.

Enjoy your coffee :)

I was just asking for more information. No need to get snippy.

How's he doing now? Can you see where the bill is? If so, is he making a yawning motion? I'm still having trouble following where exactly the malpoed pip is, sorry about that. Is there any chance you could get a picture?

ETA: Wait, has he hatched? I really need more coffee, lol.

“Sorry, nervous first-time "parent"!”

Even though you have read through the forums, that one sentence is why people are helping you not attacking you.

So being a first timer, why do you think baby was in wrong position?

Did you know that once dropped down you should NOT open that incubator for 5 days? Those that make it come out.
Those that don’t have a reason and you are creating genetics in assisted chicks
that will continue in offspring.

Did you know that the ducks neck position was ok and it can take up to 32 days to be born? It may have been pipping lower because humidity was too high and water in air cell. Also did you know that most ducks are born with necks tucked as this is their way of pushing themselves because this is the strongest part of their body. They truly don’t need our help. We need to be patient and realize we are not in control of their destiny. I never touch mine. I have a 100% hatch rate.

Did you know that everyone on here has their own methods and you take what info helps and file it for the next time or you can ignore it. We are all here to help and you became defensive for absolutely no reason.

I say continue the way you like and do what you like but that first sentence makes us think you needed help and it shows by assisting the duck. I am not being mean only blunt as I usually am. Fire back if you like but I have been raising ducks for 14 years. We don’t use incubators for them because generally waterfowl will do an excellent job if you leave them be. Some are newbies and don’t have parents yet so incubation is necessary.

I would just like all of us to get along. Please?
