The long and awaited update on the duckling: Over night I guess the chick had separated itself from the rest of the gunk/sac. The duckling is doing fine and is very lively.

Aww that is such great news!
I would definitely expect the navel to scab like I had mentioned in a previous post since it doesn't seem that it will absorb any further.
