At 4 Weeks Can You Tell?

Well I hope she is a she because the other BR is grumpy and doesn't like me. LOL At what age do you get a better sense or shall I just post every week? Hahaha

What is it about her that's not pure BR? I'm not denying, she's from a hatchery and came as a BR pullet. But just curious.

The coloring is too dark for a male but that comb is very big and rosy for a 4-week pullet. That leads me to believe it's a male chick but with female coloring because he only got one barring gene (due to a cross). I hope I'm wrong.

Not a possibility of a large comb hen? Say it ain't so. She/he is so sweet. Would roosters be that calm and sweet? Quiet too

Based on my experience, the barred rock's feather color is more indicative of gender than comb size. The feathers look dark like a pullet's, so I'm guessing pullet for now.

She doesn't have waddles growing. Does that count for anything? LOL Grasping for something

Here she is at two days old. Would you think pullet chick. She's the one on the right, all dark. You can kind of see her little spot on her head (or not)
