At loss for words!

As a 3 or 4 year old our son put a litter of kittens in the sink to 'wash' them. Yeah, they drowned, and guess what he did not turn out to be a sociopath. Kids do dumb stuff. To the OP you have handled things perfectly. For anyone to even infer that this might have been intentional is absolutely insensitive.

Well put Sourland! I couldn't have put it better! :love

x 2. Well put. Agreed, OP handled the situation well. Now, it's time to put the subject to bed.

Exactly. Did he see you dip their beaks when you first got them? Was he imitating that? Things happen, and we learn from them. Some lessons are just a little harder than others. Give him a hug, let him know you love him. It'll be OK.

X 2. Kids are imitators. Some times they imitate for the wrong reasons b/c they do not have discernment. Lesson learned, and hopefully this will instill in other parents the need to teach their kids not to touch without adult supervision.

Make this a learning experience. Let him hang out with the chicks more often, tell him what’s acceptable and what’s not. Get some chick treats he can feed to them himself, so it makes him feel important. Like a spoon of yogurt, mealworms, scrambled egg. Etc. talk to him about how life works, and that they don’t need help to eat or drink.

I’m sure he feels horrible, but you can make this a learning experience and tell him all about what chickens need and what they like. This will also make friendlier chickens, which is always funnier than mean or scared ones.

When I was younger we had a betta fish that I put on baby wipes, I have no idea why maybe I was trying to wash it. I was about 3, and to this day I feel bad when I think about it.

When my niece was three, she took her goldfish to bed with her and stuck it under her pillow for the night. She loved it and wanted to sleep with it.

Well we ended up going to Tractor Supply and got a two chicks. Red one is in the corner is named Ruby and the blonde little one is named Curly. They had them for .25 cents so hard to pass up 2 for a whooping total of .50 cents. The one that is towering Ruby is in the corner is Rainbow, the other black chick is named Stripey, and the bigger chick starting to turn white is Sunshine. They get along pretty well.
