At what age will a Sex-link start laying ?

What do you feed your flock? Or maybe it's the environment you have for them. I'd really like to know. Sounds like they're "happy campers" to have matured so young.

Right now, my flock averages about 18.7 weeks old for start of lay. Earliest has been 14.4 weeks and latest has been 21.6 weeks. Not too shabby. I am averaging more than a 15 a day from the 18 that are laying (including one bantam layer) with a daily maximum of 18 (all laying in one day). I have 42 total including 7 bantams (two of which are roosters), with 16 being too young to lay yet - although I expect them to start any day/week now.

I have 3 gold sex links that are about 17 weeks old. My other hens stopped laying weeks ago. I just looked in the next boxes today and found 4 eggs. They are about silkie size eggs though. When they start laying are the eggs smaller at first and do you think it would have been the babies that laid them or the silkie? I'm so confused lol!

I've got 6 rsl's they're just about 18 weeks. I've had one egg two days in a row! Same spot so I'm guessing just ones laying. I hope the others start soon too. So exciting lol!

Most species eggs are smaller when they first start laying but they get larger and less frequent as the hen gets older from my experience
