yeah theres nothing wrong with religion but some ways people interpret it that harm others is what bothers me (especially racist and homophobic/transphobic things)

Theres more than just that. I've met some very accepting Christians. I've driven past churches with pride flags, and I've driven past churches with signs saying gays go to hell.. so 🤷‍♀️

I mean other things

What bothers me is the "join our religion or we'll kill you" parts of humanity's history. SO far from truly following Christ's way, should not come under the name "Christianity" at all. These things make me so sad I've about decided to quit calling myself a Christian. I tell people I'm a follower of Jesus.
Yeah I’ve read parts of the Bible and other religious texts, and it seems like the number one rule is to be nice to others, and yet...

yeah

and what annoys me the most is "I love you, but I don't accept you"

and why?? I'm not even sure where it says anything about homosexuality, because i've read every quote about how its "wrong" and I still see no evidence in the bible. At least not in the new testiment. I thought they disgarded the old one

IMO if there is a God, they are very likely different from how they are described by any particular religion. Also, the notion of a "personal god" has always seemed somewhat narcissistic to me, especially considering how vast the universe is. Spinoza FTW!
When I was a child I had catechism with nuns. Lots if what they said made no sense at all to me. Some of the things I concluded were, if a powerful being claimed to be God I wouldn't be able to know whether or not it was. I came up with a hierarchy where it was alway possible there was someone even more powerful, but I wasn't able to test anyone who was more than human. Satan could claim to be Godand I couldn't prove he wasn't. Or even know for sure that he was more than human. Using God as an explanation for anything was only good if I didn't need an explanation for God. If God were able to divide himself into the Trinity there was no reason he had to stop at three. Most of what people said about God didn't sound like firsthand knowledge. The idea that miracles were common in the past and very rare now seemed implausible. Miracle was like God, an explanation that couldn't be questioned. If there's a single God, the existence of so many early societies that practiced polytheism doesn't make sense. If God doesn't care enough to make sure everyone believes the truth either people aren't valued or the truth isn't valued. And nuns are happiest when you don't ask questions and let them believe they're teaching you something important.
