Attempting to make a hat for my Rooster's frostbitten comb....

Yes. It sounds stupid. But he has gigantic blisters, and I feel horrible. I know the damage is done, but I don't want him to be in pain.

Any ideas how I can keep the thing on him? I've got a little hat made that actually fits surprisingly well and thinking of attaching it to a neck scarf.
Not stupid creative, your trying to help your feather baby, that makes you a good Mama. Not sure how you'll keep it on, but you're doing good so far :thumbsup:goodpost:

i tried making my rooster a hat but he would just keep taking it off lol you should just get him a heat lamp or bring him inside for the winter

Me? No. To me he s a chicken and can stay outside. You just don't want another freezing episode when recovering from frostbite.
x2. Freezing then thawing then freezing again is real bad for them.

Me, I leave them out there, frozen—they don't blister if they stay cold, and the dead bits fall off nicely without evil looking swollen or infected bits.

You should bring him inside to heal If it’s going to be below 32°F. If he has a large comb this could be a reoccurring issue and you should have a dog crate or other cage inside the coop where you can have a heat lamp and you should put him inside the crate each time it goes below 32°. This is what I have to do with my Columbian rock rooster in the Polian Napoleon. The vet suggested it. I wouldn’t put anything on his comb as frostbite is painful and anything rubbing against it or touching it will hurt him. It was a nice thought though! Good luck getting him better!
