Songs that make your skin crawl.

Wow! I'm not sure I could be friends with many of you - LOL!!:p
There is not much music that I don't like - from classical, gospel, country (old & new), rock, to metal. It just depends on my mood. Music is an escape for me.

With that said - anything, and I mean anything, by System of a Down, sets my teeth on edge. Once I hear that voice you cannot turn the station fast enough!

Yeah! Didn't know which way to go on "Toxicity"! :he or Mosh Pit! But you're right!

I'm not understanding what you mean by reflects culture?
Um. I mean that music is a reflection of who we are and what's heppening in our world. I don't know how old you are but there is a generation that would know what I mean if I referenced songs like Paint It Black, Ohio, Purple Rain. They would know immediately that these songs reference the Vietnam War. Or songs like Hair, Age of Aquairius, Love One Another, and they'd know these are about the idealistic hippie era. Current songs do the same thing.

I didn't know how to phrase it (and it was late so difficulty thinking and articulating)
I was confused about the "cringe-worthy" part
It seemed like it was referring to brother's grimm?

Some of the older music and books, I'm not familiar with. Weren't allowed in our school reading. (But you have to read romeo and juliet every year...)
But some music (etc media) I've managed to listen to does go over real events.

It's scary how many things just get banned and covered up.

I fail to see how romeo and Juliet is considered a love story, it's just a tale of 2 hormonal teenagers not using their brains, it's just dumb IMO and hate that it was required reading

The version my GD had to read was crude, vulgar and pretty darn close to pornographic IMO. I told her she didn't have to read it and could take a failing grade if she wanted to. 🤬

Romeo was 18
Juliet was 12
They happened to see each other at a gathering, and their parents hated each other
She was about to be forcibly married off to (I thought it was her cousin, but I could be wrong.)

The entire story takes place over about 3 days.
And at least 3 people die.

I don't know if it was "supposed to be romantic" hundreds of years ago. Different times, maybe they couldn't have eloped back then (I'm sure they would have rather been rich royals, or die, rather than elope and be commoners)
