Yeah I see !! I used to have ducks and geese with no pond- I would like to get some later-- I'm not much of a carpenter but I would like to get me some chicken tractors built for some of my chickens this spring and now maybe some ducks-- freeranging is out of the question here . the lady next door has chickens running loose and our flocks would get mixed up- She is nice though and since she was here first I give her the right of way- so to speak-She probaly wouldn't say anything if I let mine out but I don't want mine to go over and eat up her chicken feed. I try to be considerate-

Years ago I had a pair of mallards with no pond. They thrived as did my geese muscovies and two dumb pekins. They even raised a brood of 7 ducklings- I thought they would do better and be happier on my cousin's big farm--She had a lot of space and a big pond, so I took all them down there .. They didn't last a month before something caught all of them. I had good intentions though!! Sorry so long my fingers got carried away---Wayne

Tim congrats on the new chicks-- I've been writing to people getting info on the china longtail gamefowl. I really would like to have some of those, along with about 2 dozen other different kinds

Yes, i have been hunting to hard. i did harvest another doe saturday. But, my freezers are far from full. My wife informed me last night that we were going to need a couple dozen ducks in the freezer for christmas dinner. So when duck season opens i'll have to start hunting them. Well when you get ready for some chicks or pullets let me know. I'll have the RIR's you were asking about. They are growing really well.

hey tim-- Tell me some more about the rirs . You know- how old? etc . My mom wants just a few to start with and my neighbor wants barred rocks-- How do you like the welsummers? I've never had those .. I know they lay a dark egg -- Do they lay good like the rirs?
