Attention west tennessee

I think Milan is a great place for it. Don't know if we could drum up enough business by Oct 18th or not? But I know nothing about what we would need to do to have a swap meet.

Can anybody tell me what our requirements would be or if we would need any permits? Don't forget about the Gibson Co. Fairgrounds in Trenton, that place might work too.

Volunteer someone or be volunteered,my dear. That's the way it is in this jungle.

I am just South of Jackson,so I don't mind helping either. If we get it set,I may check in with the Marans Chicken Club. We are trying to get the breed recognized on the American show circuit and this may help. I normally can't take part in the shows because I can't travel half way around the country for it.

i called milan reasearch and education center that is over the folk fest and talk to a lady there. She told me that it would have to be approved by the commity. She didn't think that they would do anything like that at the festival. She did tell me to call the mayors office in trenton. They are looking to start a traders day to replace first monday. So i'm going to try to get hold to them and see what we can do.
thanks Timothy;)

Well, thanks for trying. Let us know what Trenton says. Were we wanting a real show or more of a show and swap?
I ask because I know my feed store in Jackson has "animal trade day" and the Co-op in Henderson had something similar. I have an inside trqack at the feed store(they call me the egg lady),so I could check there if you want. If we want a bonified show, don't we need judges or something?

hi everybody-- just joined this forum and so far i love it! I'm in Huntingdon and they still have a flea market every tuesday morning behind the Civic Center. So far all the chickens I have bought this year have come from there. They have several people coming there that sell poultry dogs etc plus a lot of the Amish and Mennonites come to sell various things. I guess you could call the Carrol County Chamber of Commerce to get directions. When i was young I went to Trenton, Huntingdon In Tennesse and to Mayfield and Murray In Kentucky for the trade days. My all time favorite was in Ripley, Mississipi! By the way does anybody know if all these are still operating? Also if you come to the flea market in Huntingdon make sure you come Early. It is not just a chicken swap meet but they have a lot there usually. Thanks!! --Wayne
