ATTN: BLR Wyandotte breeders

I can't give you any kind of an official critique since my first ones are only about 14 weeks old, but I can say I think they're very pretty birds. I've got more hatching in the next few days and more in a couple weeks after that. Mine have the nicest temprements of all my birds.

I would talk to your breeder you got them from. BLRW do Not follow the black blue splash them because of the red. I know on The Classroom there is a discussion that just happened about the breeding of these. Also you might ask on the Wynadotte message board. You will find that link thru the assciation site. Get advice from those dealing with this color over in europe they can help you out the most.

I do lurk over at the Classroom, there is a wealth of information there. I was an active member there a few years ago. Are the folks friendlier there than they used to be? I remember a couple of the senior members being not so tolerant of folks asking questions.

Its hard to tell in the pictures of your Roo, but he looks pretty light colored to me too..are you sure he is not going to be a splash too?

The bad thing with BLRW's is that the lacing can change and the blue can get lighter until they are around 18 months old.

Most breeders actually seem to be going with blue on blue, it seems to make the lacing more sharp and defined. However I think most BLRW breeders, including myself are more concerned with type than color. I am trying to make my BLRW look more like wyandottes and not Rocks (which 90% do look like).
