August Hatch-A-Long

Pics
It kinda looks like thats what you did. So are you happy with the results? I'm going to use an egg carton for turning, I've done that before, but lay them down to hatch.
I honestly don’t know yet lol. This hatch is new incubator and first time standing up eggs for hatch. A lot of new at once.

The air cells were bad, but I think it’s still the eggs that were okay doing much of the hatching. It is a much slower hatch than I’m used to.. incubator or position, I don’t know. But today is day 22 and it looks like it could easily spill into tomorrow. First time I’ve ever had a late hatch. Again, incubator or position.. hard to tell.

It is NOT any cleaner than using shelf liner. I still put shelf liner down, and I’m glad that I did.

Two more hatched, Legbars. Both in a little bit of rough shape. The one I think is a boy has a swollen abdomen and some yolk sack still attached. The girl seems to have dried membrane on her, and she was stuck inside the bottom half of shell for a long time.

The dry thing has me worried. Humidity has been good, and I haven’t opened it. Not sure what would’ve happened.

Woke to 4 chicks, and at least 5 pips. I guess patience really is a virtue. Who knew? :lau

So far we hatched an Icelandic, 2 silver Spitzhauben and a gold Spitzhauben. Have pips on a Maran, two cream crested Legbars, and a couple of Isbars. I am already not liking the comb size on what I believe to be the Icelandic!!

My Catdance Silkie egg is doing nothing yet. :hit

Time for coffee!

Sick hen update! She sleeps a LOT, I’m hoping it’s boredom. Yesterday I was convinced she was dying. :( but this morning she was actually roosting in the 4x4 block in her crate instead of lying down, and she had eyes half open!

Right now any progress is progress. Unfortunately, she has bright green poop that looks like she is not eating or has a blockage of some sorts.

However, right now she is (very slowly) pecking at grass outside In The backyard.

Cross your fingers for our family’s favorite hen.

I'm not sure if she's on BYC but if you search fancy feathers NH on Facebook, she breeds polish.
I know Capricorn Farm has had Polish but not sure if she sells eggs. You can ask her though, she's very nice and I would definitely buy from her if they were my breed of choice.

Thank you both!! I'll look into them!
I ordered some Buff Laced Polish eggs last night. They will be my first shipped hatching eggs. I guess it was bound to happen eventually!

There you go!!! There’s a SUPER involved one that gets really complicated but this is pretty generally good.

Thank you so much!!

A lot of firsts for you this hatch then!

I think I'm not going to complicate things further with more challenges this time around.
