August Hatch-A-Long

Best update!!!!!! How is she today????

YAY!

Still progressing!

Definitely some kind of birth defect or possibly was stuck in the egg too long before I checked that morning (it's hard to say because I didn't have a hatch date but the friend I got the egg from had chicks hatch a couple of days prior). I'm hoping with time we'll work the issues out. It looks like one leg functions normally and the other she's actually walking on the joint and lifting the foot toward her face when she takes a step if that makes sense. But! Her neck is functioning completely normally now so you never know! I'm giving her a few drops of watered down Nutridrench 3 times a day for now and she's doing ok with a quail waterer and crumbles on the ground. I'm keeping her on a towel under the heat plate and just wee pads everywhere else so she has everything really low and as easy as I can make her mobility. I don't like them being alone but I don't feel she's quite ready for a brooder buddy yet so it's just me for now.
My broody hen on the other hand, is still sitting.... Lol
you're crazy.gif

Yayyyyy!!!

I really hope she pulls through and omg your broody :lau:lau:lau :idunno

Wait... how do you have better emojis?!?!?

LOL! I started saving the other emojis anytime I came across them and I even saved a few from some emoji website and just sized them down. I think I have like 40 additional emojis now. HAHA! I guess I like to express myself through tiny graphics.

You’re too much, CluckNDoodle!!! Fingers crosses for your chick! Can you break the broody?

lol! Thanks, I'm hopeful for the chick! Tomorrow I will clean out the coop and try soaking her tummy in water. I may lock her in the separation without the broody box so she doesn't have a nest to sleep in either.

Little wibble wobble has upgraded to a sort of hop to get around. The "elbow/knee?" is red and irritated from her using it as her foot but she otherwise appears to be a healthy peep. It's hard to capture an image of but you can kind of see in this picture how the foot on the right hand side is elevated. When I have tried to bend the leg down she peeps a lot like she's uncomfortable but her hip seems to have typical motion so she may just end up having a bit of a peg leg if it's from a joint not developing properly.
