the pictures aren't that clear...I can't think what breed has so much red around the eyes..I've seen pictures tho...maybe look up red faced chickens??

I looked it up not a lot of help! is it a roo?

The breeder (in your parts of the woods) claims that lavenders are late bloomers, that although popular are genetically weak, pink but are pure bred, combs are major issues in them. Idk... I'm just not buying it. He says the one he sold me was between 5-7 mo old.

Just went into lockdown I candled one egg that felt very light and was only half full I took it out and opened it not fertile (very porous egg) so now there are 29 in lockdown I think a few more are no good but they were heavier and I didn't want to take a chance I hurt a baby so I left them in. Fingers crossed

I have some hatch. my first hatch I will be happy if even one hatches lol I know there are some good ones that are full and I see movement I will be a nervous wreck this weekend

Sept hatch along started! who's joining?

I'm in for September...I'll be setting my own muscovy duck eggs as soon as my cochins hatch...they're due Tuesday.

Should I remove the dry chicks or leave them? They are knocking the other eggs around quite a bit.

did you candle before lock down? where did the eggs come from?

Yes although this is first hatch and don't know what to all to look for.I pulled out 4 eggs yesterday for eggtopsy and one looked like a pretty much full formed chick, one looked(by estimation of pics from computer) to have stopped forming at about 12-14 days.and two were that had big clear spaces in the lower 1/3 of the egg were nothing. So here's hoping that I get at least one out of four.
