August Hatch-A-Long!

Oh dear... I ordered more eggs. Now I have a 3 part staggered hatch AND chicks arriving in the mail

Haha, me too! I am hoping the chicks will arrive about the time my incubator eggs hatch.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP?

I decided to try a staggered hatch, in the same incubator. So I had eggs in lockdown that hatched, while I also had eggs in the egg turner still developing. I have had the humidity high for almost a week now.

Well my first batch of eggs hatched. I just checked on my second batch that's still in the egg turner. I saw two pips! Lockdown isn't supposed to be until Thursday. So this is day 15. How is this possible? What do I need to do, leave them in the egg turner or move them to the hatching tray?

I just read a few threads and the first thing is to immediately turn off the turner. You will have to turn the rest by hand according to what I am reading. I read to keep a spray bottle handy to mist the eggs if you need to raise humidity after turning. I will keep looking for info for you and hope someone more experienced chimes in to help.

You ever have one of these days? My kids saw that one of the two broodies had 2 chicks hatch so they moved the eggs out of the nest that the other broody was sitting on. Aaaaaaahhhhh, the eggs were out of the nest all day. I stuck them back under the hen tonight. The eggs were supposed to hatch in the next day or two. If they don't hatch I will take her to the fair where we will have the incubator and I will give her some of the chicks we hatch. How could they do that to a Leghorn! Two of my broodies are sharing a very large dog crate and they have been doing well together. They were both given eggs on the same day so they would hatch at the same time - maybe not the best idea but it worked good up until today.

chicks, turkeys and cochin bantams. All due on different days. I swear I am going to turn it off after these. LOL I have said only 2 hatches this year. Been hatching since March.
Last hatch shipped salmon faverole shipped eggs 13 chicks out of 14 egg. But 2 did not make it the first night. Cute little guys....

Candles to see air cells. They are bigger now, I took out some water in the incubator. Can't see much in the eggs now, just have to wait five days and find out if they hatch. So exciting!
